Terms of Service

Left Unspent is operated by Mongeon Consulting & Systems LLC, a Vermont limited liability company. Left Unspent is a trade name of Mongeon Consulting & Systems LLC. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean that company, and “you” means you.

By using Left Unspent you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. What the service is

Left Unspent is a subscription web application for personal and small business cash flow. You enter your income, your committed expenses, your reserves, your goals, and your debts, and it tells you what is left unspent this month. It also provides net worth, retirement, goal, and debt payoff views.

You enter your own figures. Left Unspent does not connect to your bank accounts and does not import transactions.

2. Your account

You need an account to use the app. Sign-in is passwordless, by a code sent to your email address or through Google.

You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us at support@leftunspent.com if you believe someone else has access to your account.

You must be at least 18 years old.

3. The free trial

New accounts get a 14-day free trial. No payment card is required to start it.

When the trial ends, the app stops accepting changes until you subscribe. Your data remains yours and stays intact.

4. Plans and prices

Prices are in US dollars and do not include any tax that may apply where you live. If we change prices, existing subscribers get at least 30 days notice by email before the change affects them, and you can cancel before it does.

5. Billing and renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you chose, until you cancel.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.

If a payment fails, we will retry it and email you. If it keeps failing, your subscription may be suspended or cancelled.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, from the account page in the app, which takes you to Stripe's billing portal.

Cancelling stops future charges. It does not refund the current period.

If you delete your account, your subscription is cancelled immediately and you lose access at once, including the remainder of a period you have already paid for. The app tells you this before you confirm.

7. Refunds

We do not refund subscription charges. The 14-day free trial exists so that you can find out whether Left Unspent works for you before paying anything, and it does not ask for a card.

If something goes genuinely wrong, email support@leftunspent.com. We would rather sort out a real problem than hide behind this paragraph.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use Left Unspent to break the law, to attack or overload the service, to gain access to anyone else's account or data, to resell or redistribute access, or to copy the service in order to build a competing product.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things.

9. Your data

Your figures are yours. We do not claim ownership of anything you enter, and we do not use it to train anything or sell it to anyone.

We handle it as described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

You can delete your account, and all of the data in it, yourself at any time from the account page.

10. Left Unspent is not financial advice

This is the most important paragraph here, so it is not in the small print.

Left Unspent is a calculator and a record keeper. It does the arithmetic on the figures you give it. It is not a financial adviser, an accountant, or a tax professional, and nothing it shows you is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

The number it produces is only as accurate as what you enter. Decisions you make with it are yours. For advice about your specific situation, talk to a qualified professional.

11. Availability

We aim to keep Left Unspent running and available, and we cannot promise it will never be down. We may need to interrupt it for maintenance, and parts of it depend on services we do not control.

The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or financial decisions you make using the service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to Left Unspent is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or fifty US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Left Unspent at any time by cancelling your subscription or deleting your account.

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue the service, we will give you at least 30 days notice by email and a way to get your data out.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Left Unspent after that means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.

Before starting formal proceedings, contact us at support@leftunspent.com and give us 30 days to resolve the matter informally. Most problems can be sorted out this way.

If that fails, disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Vermont.

16. The rest

If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Left Unspent.
