Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Left Unspent website and the spreadsheet templates and related materials we offer (together, the “Service”). The Service is provided by Mongeon Consulting & Systems LLC, a Vermont limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the website or purchasing a template, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

What we offer

Today the Service consists of downloadable spreadsheet templates for personal and small business budgeting, delivered in Excel and Google Sheets formats. We plan to offer a web application in the future. These Terms will apply to that application when it becomes available, and we may publish additional terms specific to it.

Purchases and payment

Templates are sold through Gumroad, our third-party commerce and payment provider. When you buy a template, your payment and order are processed by Gumroad under Gumroad's own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Prices are shown at checkout and may change over time.

License to use the templates

When you purchase a template, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it for your own personal or internal business purposes. You may not resell, redistribute, sublicense, publish, or share the template files or their contents, and you may not present the templates or methodology as your own product.

Your purchase licenses the templates for your own use, personal or for one business you own or operate. If you are a bookkeeper, accountant, or fractional CFO, you may work inside a client's copy as part of your engagement, but each client business that keeps a copy of the template must purchase its own license. Refunds

We offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. Request a refund through Gumroad or by emailing support@leftunspent.com.

Accounts and Security

If you create an account to use our web application, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for the activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us at support@leftunspent.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service, attempt to disrupt or compromise it, or use it in violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time, which permanently removes your account and the data you have entered. Records of past payments are retained by our payment processor for tax and accounting purposes.

Intellectual property

The website, the templates, the Left Unspent name and logo, and the underlying methodology and materials are owned by Mongeon Consulting & Systems LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your license to the templates does not transfer any ownership to you.

Not financial advice

Left Unspent provides budgeting tools and educational content. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your specific situation. You are responsible for the numbers you enter and the decisions you make. Please consult a licensed professional before making important financial decisions.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of inaccuracies.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mongeon Consulting & Systems LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the template at issue.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Gumroad for payments and Buttondown for our email list. Your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third parties.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Before filing any claim, both parties agree to attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally by contacting the other party and allowing 30 days for resolution. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Vermont.
